Are you a high school senior looking for locations to take senior photos? If so, consider taking them in Midtown Oklahoma City. This area has some of the best options around for taking senior pictures! From funky murals to red brick buildings to classic downtown vibes, there’s something for everyone.

Below I’ll break down some of my favorite spots in and around Midtown for senior photos.

Best locations for photos in Midtown OKC

Automobile Alley

This stretch of Broadway between NW 10th & 5th streets is such a cool spot for taking photos! Brief history: developed in the 1920s as a commercial district, this area was home to more than ⅔ of the auto dealerships in the city for several decades. It fell into a sad decline for a while, but has now been revitalized and restored to a thriving hot spot in OKC.

It’s got more of a small downtown main street feel but with reminders that you are in OKC like the tall buildings of Downtown as a backdrop and the streetcar running along Broadway.  The buildings and vintage charm that have been preserved give it a lot of character and make for some great photos. If you’re wanting some coffee shop photos, Coffee Slingers is right there with a cool space. And there’s even a rooftop in that building you may be able to access.

9th Street

While this is pretty much part of Automobile Alley, it’s such a neat spot it deserves its own description. It’s close to some of the main spots on Broadway but slightly off the busy path. Here you’ve got Factory Obscura which is a funky artsy building, plus the alley next to it that’s got a bunch of different mural art to choose from as backgrounds. Walk a little further down and you’ve got cute little businesses that are old houses with lots of charm and character. Across the street is the most adorable bright pink storage container and then you’re only steps away from the main drag of Automobile Alley.

123 Garage

This is my favorite parking garage rooftop in the city. I prefer it because you’re far enough away from the downtown skyline to really capture a lot of it in one shot. And the sunset views are amazing! It’s a popular spot for photographers so be ready to share the space. But the potential for cool photos on the rooftop and in the stairwells makes it a great location choice for a senior photo session. It’s also only a block off the main drag of Broadway so you can easily add it on as a second or third shooting location without taking up a lot of time.

Midtown Plaza Court

This bustling spot between Classen and Walker is the heart of Midtown. The iconic angled building and rooftop neon sign identify this unique space and really make it fun. For photo options you’ve got restaurants with tons of character like McNellie’s and Kaisers Ice Cream Shop where you could take fun indoor photos. Then you’ve got sidewalks all around with unique buildings surrounding them that make for cool street photos.

Classen Inn

This is one of the coolest locations for senior pictures in OKC! Built in 1963 and recently renovated in 2020, this hotel has been restored to its original mid-century glory. From the shape of the building itself to the retro sign and courtyard, complete with flamingo wicker swings and funky chairs in bold shapes and colors, this space really adds something unique to your senior pictures. The stairwell is super cool and there’s a fun mural on the north side of the building too! While you can’t take photos inside, the outside gives you plenty of great photo opps.

Midtown OKC has so much to offer for photo locations. You can get so much variety in a short distance! This makes it an especially great option for a shorter senior session where you don’t have a lot of time to travel between locations. If you want anything from historic, mid-century, retro, funky or modern for your senior photos, chances are you’ll find what you need in and around Midtown. This “city but not right in the city” area is one of the best photo locations in Oklahoma City.
