So your senior session is booked and coming up this spring or summer. Super exciting! Spring and summer are beautiful seasons to have your senior pictures done. Now it’s time to plan the details. One of the biggest questions you’re probably asking is, what should I wear to my spring or summer photo session? This can be really fun to plan but also a little overwhelming. Don’t worry! I’ve got you. Here are some senior pictures outfits and clothes ideas for your spring and summer senior photo session.

Colors to wear in outfits at your spring or summer photo session
Since there are so many flowers in bloom at this time of year, you may be thinking you should stay away from colors in your clothes because they might clash. Actually if you are thoughtful with color choice you can create some gorgeous combos! If you already know the locations of your session, think about the surrounding colors and try wearing clothing that coordinates. Often pastel colors look good in the spring and even brighter colors stand out in the summer. White jeans and neutral colors can also look great against the blooms. There’s no one “rule” for all of it. The most important thing is to wear colors that flatter your skin tones and make you feel pretty.
Flowy Skirts + Dresses
Spring and summer are the best times of the year to wear long flowy skirts and dresses. Bonus: they look AMAZING in pictures!
They are flattering, feminine and really add a wow factor to your photos. Take advantage of the warmer weather you will have at your session and wear some of these beauties.
Pro tip: avoid super short dresses and skirts. They can be difficult to move around in for poses and won’t be as flattering.
Outfits with Accessories + Layers
Well planned accessories and outfits with layers really are the cherry on top for your senior photos. It’s true that in the summer you can’t pile on layers because of the heat, but that doesn’t mean you don’t have some options when it comes to accessorizing your outfits! Think about adding a lightweight kimono, hats, sunglasses, a belt or a cute purse. And in the spring when the temps aren’t so hot, a denim jacket would look so cute over a sundress!

More tips for spring + summer photo session outfits
Don’t feel like you have to buy new things for your photo session. If you have a favorite dress or bottoms that you love and are comfortable, wear them! Also try on all of your outfit choices, including shoes and accessories, before your session and wear them around for a half hour. This will help you catch anything that needs attention like additional undergarments you might need, straps that keep slipping or if an outfit just won’t work.
Most importantly: No matter what you end up choosing for your spring or summer senior photo outfits, make sure you feel comfortable and confident in them. Your confidence will come through in your photos and you will enjoy the experience so much more!
