Part 2: Best Places to Take Senior Pictures in OKC

More of My Favorite Locations for Photos in Oklahoma City

Back in January I wrote a blog post of My 7 Favorite Photo Session Locations around Oklahoma City. At the end I mentioned I would probably need to add a part 2 later.

Spoiler alert-I did.

I’ve got three more specific spots around Oklahoma City that I LOVE for senior pictures! Plus a few bonus locations on my wish list of places to shoot around the metro. So if you know anyone who might be interested…

Now let’s talk about the additional locations that made the cut for my Favorites list!

CHERYL JACKSON PHOTOGRAPHY | OKLAHOMA CITY SENIOR PHOTOGRAPHER

Martin Nature Park

I recently did a fall senior session at Martin Nature Park on the north side of Oklahoma City and I am IN LOVE with the photo opps there! You can see more photos of the girl senior pictures I took on this blog post

The variety of backdrops is so great for just one location! You’ve got tall trees, dirt paths, bridges, creeks and even an open field. This allows you to really maximize the variety in your photo gallery without losing time driving to another location.

I highly recommend this spot especially if you’re looking for a natural country or western boho look in your photos.

Crystal Bridge Tropical Conservatory

So technically the Crystal Bridge greenhouse is located at the Myriad Gardens, which I listed as a favorite in my last post but...

I had not taken any photos inside the Crystal Bridge yet. After I had the most dreamy fairytale session there, I decided it deserved a stand-alone spot in my list of favorite OKC photo locations!

Check out the blog post of photos from that session here

The diffused light, the plants and the hardscape features all provide some seriously cool photo spots. Another huge bonus to a photo session here is you can have greenery even in a winter photo session! Plus you’re protected from the elements any time of year. You do have to pay an admission fee to get in, but it’s only about $10.

Lake Hefner

This is one of the spots around the city I’ve been hoping to shoot at for a while so I was really excited when I got to snap a few photos here in October!

The photos are from the same senior girl session that I did at Martin Nature Park. Blog link here

We shot her photos over on the west side of the lake. The sunset views were spectacular, and if you’re wanting to get in the water like my girl Montana did, this is a great place to do it.

Lake Hefner is so nice because it has tons of cool photo spots around most of its shoreline, plus a wide variety of looks. Besides getting in the water, you can also get a beachy type feel from the sand and grasses around it. Or if you’re going for a preppy look to your senior photos there’s the east side with the sailboats and lighthouse. Tons of great options!

Bonus Future Favorite Locations

(as in, I haven’t shot there yet but I know they would be awesome!)

I feel that no list of the best picture spots around Oklahoma City would be complete without mentioning the following:

  • The Paseo District
  • The Plaza District
  • The Wheeler District

Like I said, I don’t have my own session photos to share from any of these great spots...yet. But they would also make excellent photo locations!

The Paseo District has vibrant colors and unique architecture and can give you a really cool artsy, old world vibe in your photos.

If you’re looking for murals and an edgy vibe the Plaza District is the spot.

And one of the newer additions to the OKC landscape, the Wheeler District, has sidewalks among colorful pastel houses with modern vibes, Wheeler Park with the Ferris Wheel and plenty of photo opps right along the Oklahoma River!

There’s still so many more excellent photo location options in the Oklahoma City area that I haven’t mentioned. But you get the idea.

One of my favorite parts of planning a senior session is personally helping you match the style you want in your photos to the perfect location that supports that.

And no matter what look you’re going for in your photos, I’m confident we will find the perfect location for your senior pictures around the OKC metro area!
