How to Look your BEST in Front of the Camera

There are two kinds of people in this world.

The ones who are natural in front of a camera and look amazing in every photo, and then the ones who, well…..don’t.

CHERYL JACKSON PHOTOGRAPHY | OKLAHOMA CITY SENIOR PHOTOGRAPHER

I am in the latter category for sure!

I’ve always struggled with looking good in photos and it seems like the harder I try to twist, turn and contort myself and smile, the worse I look. So believe me, I feel you when you say that you don’t know how to look good in photos!

My problem is that I can’t see myself to understand where I’m going wrong even though I know how I should stand.

But the good news for you is that you don’t have to worry about that and you do have help! One of the reasons you should hire a professional photographer is that we know what you need to do and we can guide you through the entire posing process to make you look like the best version of yourself.

So if you thought this blog post was going to tell you where to put your feet and how to pop a leg, it’s not.

Instead you can forget about all those tips about being a model and do these 3 simple things to look your best in front of the camera.

  • Get plenty of rest the night before. Obviously we all know sleep is so important for so many reasons. And it also seems to be the first thing to suffer when we are busy or stressed. So the week of your photo session, make getting plenty of rest the top priority. There’s a reason it’s called beauty sleep. When you’re well rested, not only do you look great but you also feel great and everything is easier.
  • Wear things that make you feel comfortable and confident. It goes without saying that when we wear an outfit or piece of clothing that doesn’t fit quite right or is out of our comfort zone, it is distracting and can really affect our self-confidence. So when choosing the outfits for your senior session, really think about what types of clothes make you feel beautiful and are comfortable. Don’t pressure yourself to wear a trend because you think you should. Wear what feels like you but put thought into it and you will look amazing, I promise!
  • Relax! I can’t say this one enough. Your job is to show up well-rested and ready to have a good time. That’s it. Let your photographer worry about getting the right light, putting you in great poses and making sure things go smoothly. That’s why you hired them!

When you do these three things in preparation for your senior session, things are going to go so well, and you WILL look like one of those naturals in front of the camera!
